A few weeks ago we hosted an engagement party for my beloved sister-in-law, Patricia, and her most kind fiance, Mike. They are such a beautiful couple inside and out. I am thrilled to have Mike officially join our family this summer. They are getting married aboard a sailboat in a small ceremony involving only immediate family and few very close friends. Their reception will be a three day camping trip in the San Juan Islands. How cool is that? They own a 30' sailboat together and have dreams of sailing for months at a time in exotic places in years to come. They are both landscape architects, and met at one of their first jobs. They both care more about loving the people around them, than about acquiring things or being best. I am thrilled they found each other, and feel lucky they're my siblings.
I've been letting Ashen take photos with my beloved SLR recently, trusting that he's going to keep it solidly around his neck and never press "delete all." So far, so good. Below are a few shots of Ashen's perspective of the tail end of the party. Fortunately, our neighbors agreed to have the boys over for a fun evening at their place, so that our party could be a cocktail party, no kids allowed :) Bereket slept through the whole thing, bless her heart and the two Sleepmate sound machines that whirred her to sleep.
