What's it like to be SO close to finding out who the newest love of your life is? Here's an analogy (an insufficient one to really illustrate the true feeling, but hopefully it conveys some of the longing we're feeling for this child we've never met.) Imagine you're on a trip home after being away for years. You haven't seen the people you love for those years away, and as you get closer and closer to home, you start to realize that soon the people you have missed so much for so long are going to be in your arms. Waves of love and longing for them return stronger as you get nearer. As you turn the corner and enter clearing close to your home and look across the gorgeous meadow in front of you, with your home with the people you love just beyond the meadow beyond your view, you realize that someone has built a fence since you've been gone. Soon you realize this fence has been locked and the person with the key has gone off and you have NO idea when they'll return. You are longing for home...longing for those you miss--and waiting anxiously for the person with the key to return. Each day you wait at the fence seems like an eternity and you miss your family even more than the day before. So you wait...
We are missing our child, though we've never met them and don't even know who they are. The love we feel for this child is already so powerful. Saying we 'can't wait' understates the powerful feeling we have, but there are really no words for this.
We are constantly checking the forum...looking for the latest news about referrals (someone just posted they got a referral! So we're #5!) and starting to think about all the things we need to do before we travel (we've done little to prepare for a little one in our home!). We know it will all be fine and in a few months we'll be home as a family...it's hard to even believe as I write this! We've been so blessed by the adoption experience already--it's opened our world beyond the 'norm' we knew and we feel much richer to have had this experience.
I thought I'd give you this sneak peek into the final day(s?) of our wait...In days (hopefully not weeks!) we'll be the luckiest mommy and daddy to a beautiful baby (maybe two?).

Hoping your wait is not much longer. Thinking of you!
Thank you for sharing your journey and your feelings. This baby is so blessed to have you as parents.
I am praying for your referral to come very soon -and for you to find the key to your new happiness :)
Thanks for sharing your emotion of these days. As you are checking at the fence, I am constantly checking at this blog. Although one child will be a great joy, I hope the outcome is two, because there is so much love in your house, not only inside you both but surrounding you with the well-wishing friends and relative. I pray for Godspeed.
