Where are all the referrals?

Just a quick update on our "wait."

It's been about a month and a half since our adoption agency gave 'referrals' (aka. matching the adoptive parents with a child)! They matched about 20 families on December 20th. Those families are going to be traveling over the next few weeks to pick up their kids. The care center where our child will be before we pick them up houses about 100 kids...so the more families who pick up their children, the more space for new children. So bring on the travel dates...and the new referrals!

There are at least 35 families we know of that are ahead of us on the waiting list (probably more like 50-60 in reality) and we are anxious for all of them to get their referrals. Not only does each new referral mean that a child is matched with their family, but it also means that we move up on the waiting list.

We were told that our wait would be 4-6 months from December 10th...so we're not anticipating any news until mid-April at the earliest (and we're trying to keep our expectations more toward June so that we don't go crazy when our referral doesn't come in April). We'll travel 2-3 months later (as soon as the adoption is finalized with the Ethiopian government, our agency will give us travel dates). So we're aiming to travel by the end of the summer, though there are so many variables at work, there is no way to predict. We are so thankful that God already knows who our child(ren) are...so we don't have to worry about delays or longer/shorter waits than we expect because it's all leading us to our little guy/girl.
