We had our first long weekend getaway with a baby (other than our family reunion in July) last weekend and we had a lot of fun! Ashen, being his observant self, soaked up every ounce of our time in the San Juans. He had lots of fun with his grandparents and aunts and uncle who spoiled him with lots of attention. He particularly loved the bubbles and time at the beach. The ferry made him a little nervous, though he peered off the side of the boat as often as he could. He also learned how to stand on his own...well at least for a couple seconds. He's getting braver and braver.
We had a great time eating crab, salmon and loads of chocolate. We went to the farmers market and got fresh wood fired pizza (a gal built her own wood fire oven and totes it around on a trailer to places like the farmers market), biked through beautiful meadows and past lakes to get to the little grocery store, and ate half gallon sized ice cream cones. I think you'll find a pic of that here...
The weekend was a little slice of bliss...
